04 GENESIS APARTMENTS
In 1997 the studio won an art commission for a project at the Robert F. Kennedy/Genesis Apartments in NYC. It was funded by the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs and H.U.D. and administered by CityArts.

Genesis Apartments is partially occupied by formerly homeless people and low to middle income families. My intention was to provide a work that signified hope and beauty with some dignity added for good measure. It functions as an interior lobby divider/mural and symbolizes growth through an abstract tree design. I took some inspiration from a wonderful espalier tree at the Cloisters Museum of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
